Welcome to the circumcision clinic at IMC - the place to come if you're looking for a safe, easy male circumcision at a private clinic in London.
Our highly qualified doctors use some of the most modern and safe methods of circumcision - to find out more about these, visit our procedures page.
Circumsicion is the removal of the foreskin (or prepuce) that covers the glans (head) of the penis by surgical means, and can be carried out at the IMC for males of all ages (neonates, babies, infants, boys or adults).Circumcision may be performed for religious (Jewish/Muslim and others), cultural, hygienic or theraputic reasons. The Latin 'circum' means around (or about). Circumcision is, literally, a cutting around, and dates back to prehistoric times, and is still one of the most popular surgical procedures carried out worldwide. It is one of the oldest surgical operations known to man, and is known in Hebrew as bris Milah/brit Milah, in Arabic as Khitan, in Persian as Khatna and some African languages as Halal. Some Muslims refer to it as Tohoor or tahara, meaning purifying, and some Asians call it sunnat.
Reasons why people choose IMC for circumcision:
Doctors: Our doctors and surgeons are fully qualified independent professionals practising within the private sector. They each hold their own relevant qualification with longstanding experience in circumcision, reassuring you of their abilities as medical proffessionals, performing circumsicion to the standard of religious circumcisers (mohel).
Disposable sterile equipment and hygienic theatre: All our tools and instruments are sterile and disposable (single use only) to prevent any chance of cross contamination and infection. The procedure is carried out in a hygienic theatre.
Local anaesthetic injection: All procedures are carried out using a local anaesthetic to numb the skin and make the procedure less painful.
24 hr assistance: You will be given the doctors mobile number, which, should you have any concern, can be contacted out-of-hours.
Instruction leaflets: These are given to patients to advise on after-care following circumcision, what to expect on the day and how to care for your child after the procedure has been performed.
Latest technology: We always try to use the latest in modern technology for your comfort and safety.
Parking: We have our own car park at the Medical Centre and there are no restrictions on street parking. Harrow is outside the congestion zone.
Building: Our building is spacious and situated in a relaxing environment. We have a purpose built Medical Centre which is fully equipped for children and their family. There is a large garden at the rear that is easily accessed.
Family friendly environment: IMC offers a relaxing environment for your child and the family. We have purpose built family rooms and mother-baby rooms with views overlooking the garden, where you can sit and relax before and after undergoing the procedure. We have facilities for baby changing and comfortable private rooms for breast feeding. We provide refreshments for our visitors.
Friendly staff: Our staff are all experienced in dealing with issues regarding circumcision. We are always interested in your feedback and welcome any comments or suggestions.
Pricing: The price includes administration costs, medication and up to 2 follow-up appointments which may be required, in addition to the surgical procedure and the local anaesthetic injection. (A local anaesthetic alone is £110, according to the BUPA tariff).
Free follow-up visits: Two follow-up visits at the clinic are included in the price (if required).
Medication: These are supplied by the clinic and included in the price.
Communication: Patients are given clear instructions from the staff at the medical centre on what to expect before the procedure, and instructions on aftercare following surgery.
Entertainment: We have a fully equipped theatre including a DVD entertainment system for both adults and children.
A free consultation is offered prior to the procedure, and there will be no charge if you decide to go ahead with the circumcision. The surgeon will ask you questions concerning your medical history and answer any relevant medical questions you have, as well as clarifying which procedure is most suitable and appropriate.
Home visits are available on request: You can choose to either come to our clinic or have the circumcision carried out in the comfort of your own home.
Circumcision for all ages: At the IMC circumcision can be carried out on individuals of all ages (neonates, babies, infants, boys and adults).
Benefits and reasons for circumcision?
Circumcision is a great way to protect yourself or your baby son throughout life. Surgical foreskin removal has huge medical benefits and significantly reduces the risks of developing the following unpleasant and life-limiting illnesses:
Urinary tract infections
Many people don't realise that these can be serious. They can actually cause permanent damage to the urinary tract and kidneys. Surgical foreskin removal reduces the chance of urinary tract infection 10-fold.
Balanitis
This painful, often recurring, swelling of the glans which can make urination difficult and even impossible, can be completely avoided by circumcision.
STIs
You significantly reduce your risk of sexually transmitted infections by surgical removal of the foreskin.
HIV/AIDS
We know that the best way to avoid these life-limiting conditions is to have one trusted and infection-free sexual partner, but circumcision does offer some measure of protection.
Cancer of the penis
Future-proof your health or that of your baby son with circumcision; cancer of the penis is rare - about 1 in 1000 - but circumcision offers almost 100% (less if you are circumcised as an adult) protection against this painful, distressing and life-limiting condition
Tight Foreskin (prepuce)
Circumsicion is the only treatment for tight foreskin (prepuce) and frenulum problems.
If all this isn't enough reason to opt for surgical foreskin removal, then you should know that your partner will most likely benefit from it too.
Why? Because a circumcised penis is much easier to keep clean and almost odour-free.
The health benefits extend to your lady, too. Cancer of the cervix in women is due to the Human Papilloma virus which thrives under and on the foreskin, and can be transmitted during intercourse. An article in the British Medical Journal in April 2002 suggested that at least 20% of cancer of the cervix would be avoided if all men were circumcised.
Foreskin removal will allow you to enjoy all these health benefits for life - and the life of your partner. You can contact a circumcision doctor and ask about the procedure by calling our reception.
